If the DAM market were a game of poker, usage reports would be table stakes—you can’t really play without them. Boring, basic, and ubiquitous, most DAMs provide some version of these reports out of the box.
When applied to an asset portal where internal and external parties can download finished assets, usage reports provide information on frequently searched and downloaded assets. This information can be distilled into insight on customer, partner, or employee interests. And this insight can lead to actionable decisions about invest areas for future asset production efforts.
But to extend the poker analogy above, no one reads an article about antes. And if your initial deployment of a DAM doesn’t include some version of this functionality, you might consider folding on the DAM software you selected. Let’s move on to reporting functionality where some DAM vendors are making big bets.
